Fabio Erculiani c9a8736ba1 [entropy.*] 'branches' metadatum is dead, eventually. ...

This commit removes the quirk used mainly server-side to make
tidy working on branches sharing package files.
Since tidy function now uses a more intelligent technique, this
is not needed anymore.
