<div class="CellBody"><a name="1464890">9750 controllers support enclosure audio alarm for enclosures with expanders and </a>I<span style="vertical-align: super;">2</span>C backplanes that support the SES-2 protocol.</div>
<div class="CellBody"><a name="1461386">However, enclosure alarm support depends on the capabilities of the specific </a>enclosure or backplane. Not all enclosures provide an audio alarm, and for those that do, not all provide both the On/Off and Mute/Unmute feature. </div>
<div class="CellBody"><a name="1461387">For details about what specific features are provided with your enclosure, see the </a>documentation that came with the enclosure or backplane. </div>
<div class="CellBody"><span class="NoteHeading"><a name="1461388">Tip:</a></span> Be sure you have the most recent firmware for the enclosure. If the alarm feature does not work as anticipated, contact the manufacturer for updated firmware.</div>

<div class="BodyAfterHead"><a name="1461394">Some enclosures provide an alarm that turns on when a RAID unit becomes </a>degraded or goes offline, or when a drive has failed. (Specific use of the alarm feature may vary somewhat, depending on the enclosure.)</div>
<div class="Body"><a name="1461395">If you have an enclosure with an audio alarm, you can turn the alarm </a><span class="UI-Element">Off</span> when it sounds, using 3DM2, 3BM, or the CLI. If the enclosure supports muting, you can also mute and unmute the alarm in 3DM2 or the CLI. </div>
<div class="Body"><a name="1461396">Note that you cannot turn an enclosure alarm </a><span style="font-style: italic;">on</span>. Alarms are only turned on (activated) when an error condition has been detected for a drive or RAID unit. To view any error conditions that may have caused the enclosure alarm to go off, see the <span class="UI-Element">3DM2 Alarms</span> page. Status information about supported enclosures is also available on the <span class="UI-Element">3DM2 Enclosure Details</span> page. (You can also use the CLI <span class="UI-Element">/cx show alarms</span> command, or check the status of the RAID unit in 3BM.)</div>
<div class="Body"><span class="Emphasis"><a name="1461405">Muting</a></span> an alarm provides the ability to silence the alarm, without turning it off completely. You can also set the alarm to Mute in advance, if you do not want the alarm to sound. When the alarm audibility is set to <span class="UI-Element">Mute</span> and the alarm turns on, the word <span class="UI-Element">Activated</span> continues to display in the Status column of the Audio Alarm Summary on the 3DM2 Enclosure Details page. </div>
